Chevy + Kijah =

Kijah finally went into labor Saturday evening (April 23, 2016) and delivered one healthy red girl! However, it quickly became concerning when she failed to deliver any more puppies for over six hours. After waiting and making some calls my dad and I packed her and puppy up and went to the Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital at 11:30pm. After taking an x-ray, the vet showed us the one remaining puppy still in Kijah. After being induced twice, the puppy still had not entered the birth canal. Since the puppy
was larger than the first one, it wasn't able to pass naturally, which was why Kijah was struggling to give birth to it. The vet performed a C-section around 3am and successfully revived the puppy, for which I was grateful. However, because the vet had to operate more extensively, due to the puppy being larger, there was more bleeding than she could control, and in order to prevent more blood loss, she had to remove the uterus. I was aware that spaying might be necessary, but I didn't expect it to happen, so that was a big disappointment to us all.

The second puppy is more cream colored, and they're both healthy and strong. They actually look more like a two-week old puppy than a one-day old puppy. The cream colored puppy is currently 1lb. 7.2 oz. and the red puppy is 1lb. 5.9 oz.

I'll be updating here weekly with pictures, I hope. And it's likely that I have found homes for both puppies already. Grateful to God for providing two healthy puppies, and also thankful that Kijah is recovering well.

April 2016 Update!

Well, I'm pretty sure it's safe to announce this now...Kijah's next litter is due April 17th, 2016!! This time her mate is Chevy, a gorgeous 2 year old red male. We're so looking forward to having puppies again, as the last time we tried, it didn't work out, so this litter is about seven months later than planned, but hopefully all goes well. Kijah is due any time from April 17-23rd, so keep an eye out for pictures and updates sometime after that. Check out my Contact/Pricing Info page for more details and pass the word around!

By way of update on my last litter...currently, Sheena, Danny Boy, and Jaeryn (my sister's dog) are the only three puppies from my 2014 litter that I've been able to see grow up over the months. They're all gorgeous dogs, and both Sheena and Jaeryn's owners are planning for puppies in the near future, too.
